Honduras Update

Oops--I accidentally posted a link to their blog from 2007. I think I have the current link under my blog list now. (I never cease to be amazed with my IT genius!) Anyway, if you have a chance, check it out. They have posted pix of the work they are doing building a church. They are also conducting Vacation Bible School while they are there. It's amazing to see the pix of everyone working so faithfully to complete this church. It's also interesting to read the stories about how the people in the community & the people from my dad's church come together despite language barriers for their common goal. God is truly amazing! (On a side note, please keep my dad in your prayers as he was not feeling well when he left & will be doing such physically challenging work while he is there).

Is this still considered a blog?

If any of you are still out there, first of all I want to say sorry that my blog has officially become a bust (and with the recent crashing of our computer, internet problems, & broken didgital camera any chance of revamping of the blog anytime soon is looking slim). But I did want to let everyone know that my dad left for his annual mission trip to Honduras yesterday and you can follow their trip at cbchonduras2009.blogspot.com . It is always fascinating to follow the work the team does while they are there.

She Does Hair, Too.....

For those of you who are not on Facebook or did not have a chance to see this picture I posted on there, I just wanted to share that the little Diva is apparently venturing beyond the world of fashion & now dabbling in the hair-styling arena, too. I'm pretty sure the stars will now want to consult with Samaya before their big awards shows since she now offers full-service styling from head-to-toe (did I mention that she also does lipstick for me, her, & Aleesha). As parents, Todd & I must be doing soemthing right, though, because Samaya has learned to remember the "little people" that helped her on her rise to Divadome. As she was headed over to comb Danny's hair (Todd's friend--the inncoent victim in this picture) she said, "Come on, Aleesha, you can be my assistant!"

Confessions of a Facebook Addict

Well, my last post was December, 10th, so I just made it in under the "one-month wire! I wish I could tell you all that my New Year's Resolution was to blog more, but why place such unrealistic expectations on myself. I have decided, though, not to give up completely on blogging yet. So we'll see what happens in 2009. I should warn you , though, now that I am on Facebook, I may never make it back to blog again. When an acquaintance first told me about Facebook, I looked at them cluelessly & no matter how many times she tried to explain it to me, I still could not see the point. Well, after having been on there now, for a little over month I think I am officially addicted. I don't spend much time on the computer as it is, so now when I do get on the computer, I have to make sure to update my status & check the status of all my friends. And don't even get me started on Flair! The other day I actually reconnected with a girl who lived around the corner from me in MN--we were in Brownies & Girl Scouts together! So, I guess Ican say that I get Facebook now.
On the family front, as you can see, my little Diva is still setting the trends for the hottest looks in preschools everywhere! She now also does this thing where she has to change when we have company ("But mommy, I need to put on a dress!" "Samaya, you already have on a dress." "But I need to put on a fancy dress!") And what can I say about Aleesha Mae, but BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! She is 15 months old now & will try to climb anything (I'm thinking about having her DNA tested to see if she has monkey in her). Her communication skills are amazing--she will definitely let you know what she does & does not want.

What Do You Mean Child Labor Laws?

So it looks like the last time I made a post was 11/12, so by getting this up here today at least its not a whole month in between posts! Somehow I feel like I've been playing catch-up ever since I went to California in late October. And we went to South Carolina for Thanksgiving, so of course I'm still trying to catch-up from that trip. Which will take me right through the holidays....I guess at this rate, maybe I'll be back on track by Groundhog's Day! Anyway, this past weekend I was sick (Strep Throat for the second time in a month) & spent most of Sunday laying on the couch. Todd was busy cleaning and enlisted "Little Missy I", & "Little Missy II" to help him with some of the chores! (If anyone is interested, they are available for parties, for a reasonable rate of course and management is not responsible for any broken items). I should note that the dress Samaya is wearing was a souvenir brought back for her from my Dad's mission trip to Honduras last July. She had been asking to wear it all week & had a hard time understanding the concept of "too cold outside," so she was thrilled that I finally agreed to let her wear it in the house all day!

Family Lanes Update

My dad didn't read my post about our flight home, but the next day he e-mailed me this link regarding airport security lanes & the upcoming holiday season. Business travelers rejoice!http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27648265/from/ET/ (this is my first attempt at putting a link in my post, so hopefully it works)!

The Diva Strikes Again!

Well, I could not think of one good reason to tell Samaya, no, when she asked to wear the sparkly purple dress she saw hanging in her closet. So that is what she wore today to go to the doctor to get her flu shot (mist) & to the grocery store. In a way, it kind of worked out because Todd's dad had a doctor's appt. in Columbus today & came over afterward to have dinner with us. So he got to see Samaya all dressed-up. Not to mention, my mom loves to buy the girls dresses, which is great because whenever we a have to go somewhere that requires us to dress-up, I can usually just pull a dress out of their closets. But unfortunately, they often only get to wear each dress one time before they outgrow it. So actually, Samaya may be on to something here! Sometimes it is hard to step back & put myself in her shoes, especially when I already have an outfit set in my mind. But it is so fun to watch her develop her own sense of style & see what her likes are. I hope I can remember to try to go with the flow as she continues to express her budding sense of fashion. Who knows, maybe she will make formal attire all the rage among preschoolers this year!
